12:45 – 1:45 PM Leadership Activity, “The Success Mindset: Responsibility,” by Sandra Grace

In order to achieve complete and full self-esteem we have to take full responsibility for our lives, for both internal and external experiences. Often, we fall into the trap of blaming other people for how we feel and for what happens to us. Looking for the solutions to our problems outside of ourselves distracts us. It is much more effective, however, to look inside ourselves to see how we are creating what we are experiencing though our thoughts, images and behaviors. Taking the position that we are responsible for our responses to the world gives us more power.

Objectives

  • Participants will take ownership of their feelings
  • Participants will identify that events plus their responses produce the outcomes they experience

9:45 – 10:30 AM Business Planning, “Financial Literacy & Money Knowledge,” by Laura Webb

Money can make things much easier OR much harder in life.  If you have money, you can get the things you need like food, clothing, a place to stay, or even save for something you want to accomplish in the future.  If you do not have any money, you have to depend on others to hopefully provide for your needs.   Having a healthy understanding of money and your relationship to money will give you greater influence and control over the rest of your life.

We will begin with a discussion of your “money story” and what impact people around you might have on your own story.  Then we will build an awareness of how it works, discussing income and expenses, differences between debit and credit and even talk about taxes.  Next, we will focus on a fun exercise to help you make good choices and learn how to build a spending and a saving plan.  Finally, we will give you ideas on how to develop a little bit of discipline so you can accomplish what is important to you now and in the future.

It is critical as a young woman to learn how to have a healthy attitude and not be afraid of money.  That confidence will have a positive and long-lasting impact on you and your life.

10:45 – 11:45 AM Wellness Activity, “ Getting A Grasp on Your Time & Project Management” by Dannie Frey

From birth, we deal with time – mealtimes, bedtimes, time to wake up, arrive at appointments, school, you name it and we are expected to get there ‘on time’. We may understand why we have to be somewhere or do something by a certain time but may not feel like we have any control over our time. We do to a much greater degree than we think we do. We also have control over what takes up our time, to a certain extent. We are going to learn how we can leverage our time and tasks each day to find success in everything we do.

During this session, we discuss the Camp Girl Boss Tracker you have used in the booklet since the very beginning of the camp. We explore why it is critical to break down all the tasks you need to do to find success in every project, big or small. We discover the importance of having a grasp on the real time it takes to complete a task to avoid estimating incorrectly. Through the use of fun examples and tools you can use, we dive into planning aspects of time, talents and treasures to find success no matter our age or goals.

After this workshop, you will have the tools you need to build productive habits that will make success possible in your personal, educational and professional parts of your life.
